Coatings are used in an extensive range of industries: construction and project refurbishment, food and gift packaging, toys, electronics, furniture and printing etc.
The Group's coatings business was set up in Hong Kong in 1982, and has established a good reputation in the market. At present, the coatings business comprises several brands including: "Bauhinia Paints" for paints, "Bauhinia Variegeta" for inks, "Golaxxo" for specialty varnishes, "Da Chang" for resins, "Ad-Coat" for electronic insulating coatings and "Pak Lam Choice" for digital electronic coatings.
Bauhinia Paints consists of several product lines, ranging from domestic architectural paints (such as interior and exterior emulsion paints, water-based wood furnishing paints and oil-based wood furnishing paints) and industrial paints (such as furniture paints, plastic paints and heavy-duty paints).
Since 1992, Hong Kong's Housing Department and the Architectural Services Department have put Bauhinia Paints as the certified supplier of paints for all kinds of large-scale construction and housing projects. In China, Bauhinia Paints has also been used in more than 500 key projects such as airport, bridges, piers and chemical bases etc.
In 2004, Bauhinia Paints established "Artistic Coatings Centre" as their product showroom to demonstrate the cutting-edge and trendy decorative elements among the coatings industry in China and it strengthens the decorative style and trend in household decoration.
In 2006, Bauhinia Paints has also become the first batch of brands awarded the China Compulsory Certificate ("3C Certification").
The Group will continue to deploy more resources in promoting the brand, and we believe Bauhinia architectural paints will continue its steady growth in future. In addition, since the Bauhinia solvent-based paints for wood finishing is already a market leader in China, the Group will focus on expanding its share of the water-based decorative paints in the future.
Since its establishment in 1998, the inks business has three strategically well positioned manufacturing bases in Southern, Eastern and Northern China, the three plants locate in Zhongshan, Zhejiang and Hebei respectively. The inks business has specialized in the development of plastic printing inks, gravure inks and screen printing inks and the total production capacity exceeds 60,000 tonnes. In 2009, the sales volume of inks business exceeds 40,000 tonnes and the annual turnover reached RMB 1 billion.
Bauhinia Variegata Inks has enjoyed excellent reputation and support from the international market. In 2005, it has named as "Guangdong Famous Trademark" and was also granted "China Famous Trademark" by the Trademark Office of The State Administration For Industry and Commerce of the People's Republic of China in 2010.
Keeping pace with the global environmental trends, inks business employs aromatic-free workshops and fully piped transmission system to ensure the production is in line with international standard. The planograhic plastic inks of Bauhinia Variegata passed the authentication of the American Soybean Association and has recognized as "A-Class Supplier".
To further broaden the inks business profile, development of offset printing inks commenced in 2006, and is expected to provide the Group's inks business with further impetus for growth in the years ahead.
"Golaxxo" is specialty glossy varnish for printing and post-printing processes. It applies in the finishes for books, cards and other stationery, as well as gift boxes and boxes for toys. Golaxxo is a leading brand of blister packing varnishes, UB varnishes and paper laminating glue in China, and received by the market.
Resins form the backbone of coatings. It accounts for 60 to 80 percent of the total weight of paints and 30 to 40 percent of the cost of paints. The business, operated under the "Da Chang" brand, specializes in the production of resins for paints manufacturing. The excellent quality of Da Chang resins and its customer-oriented services has fuelled sales growth with over 100 loyal customers, and has also established a good reputation for the Group in China's resins industry.
"Ad-Coat" is the brand name for a range of products for the electrical and electronics industries. It includes a specialty insulating varnish and a range of PCB printing inks for the electronic industry. The products provide reliable and high quality to the industry. Ad-Coat is the first insulation varnish to have received the Underwrite Laboratories (UL) approval in China and is accredited by the Electrical Insulation System (EIS) Certification from Dupont.
"Pak Lam Choice" is digital electronic coatings used in digital products and electronic appliances. The product range includes: UV series, PU series, electroplating effect series etc. "Pak Lam Choice" specializes in high-quality and special color effect coatings and is widely used by international renowned electronic manufacturers.
